Mission & Vision
Ohemaa Green Housing (OGH) is committed to providing aesthetically pleasing yet affordable homes by building with interlocking modular bricks made from recycled plastic. Their vision is to redefine affordable housing in Africa through sustainable innovation — simultaneously tackling environmental challenges and making homeownership more accessible.
Innovative Construction
The construction system used by OGH is modular and fast: thanks to the interlocking design of their recycled-plastic bricks, a 40 sqm house can be built in as little as 5–7 days with a small crew. These “Lego-like” blocks eliminate the need for mortar, speeding up construction and reducing labor costs.
Affordability & Sustainability
By using recycled plastic as the primary building material, OGH achieves cost savings of up to 50% compared to conventional building methods. Their modular system also makes these homes potentially mobile — units can be disassembled and relocated if needed.
Environmental Impact
Building with recycled plastic bricks helps reduce plastic waste significantly. For example, building a 40 sqm unit can save thousands of kilograms of plastic from entering the waste stream. This dual-focus on housing and sustainability makes OGH a model for green innovation in real estate.
Project Development & Timeline
OGH is in the process of scaling up production through a planned brick-production factory in Ghana. Their first construction projects are scheduled for rollout in 2024.
Social Value & Impact
With its low-cost, modular houses, Ohemaa Green Housing contributes meaningfully to closing Ghana’s housing deficit. At the same time, their model promotes circular economy principles by creating demand for recycled plastic material.
